Our restaurant celebrates traditional local dishes, crafted with the finest seasonal ingredients from iconic Suffolk suppliers. It’s honest, flavourful food that reflects the richness of our region – in every sense; it's the very best of Suffolk.
Our approach is rooted in something simple but important: pride in place. Locals and regulars value the richness of Suffolk’s produce and the comfort of traditional dishes. Visitors come for the town’s history, the beauty of the landscape, and the chance to experience authentic local food and drink.
We believe the best food begins with the best ingredients — fresh, seasonal, and close to home. Cooking this way not only brings out true flavour, it reflects our commitment to sustainability and to supporting the community that surrounds us.
Our Philosophy is simple

1.
There’s a natural rhythm to the year that stirs memory and emotion — the scent of herbs in summer, the warmth of a winter stew, the colours of autumn on a plate. The seasons guide our cooking, offering their best in turn. By listening to what nature gives us, we create food that feels familiar yet fresh, rooted in place and time, and full of quiet comfort.
2.
If you want the freshest, most vibrant ingredients, local is always best. That’s why around 90% of our fresh produce comes from growers and suppliers within an hour of Woodbridge. It’s food that’s fresh, not flown — full of flavour, low in food miles, and rooted in Suffolk’s rich landscape.
3.
Mindful Meat – We believe good meat begins with good farming. That’s why we work with local farmers who care for their animals and the Suffolk landscape in equal measure. Whenever possible, we choose organic, grass-fed beef, free-range Blythburgh and Dingley Dell pork, and chicken from trusted producers in Stowmarket. We proudly serve Gressingham duck, renowned across the UK, and source seasonal game from local keepers. With such exceptional produce on our doorstep, there’s simply no need to look beyond sunny Suffolk.
4.
Sustainably caught fish from our local ports in Lowestoft, Orford and Felixstowe. Day boats not trawlerboats.
5.
We keep packaging to a minimum and recycle everything we can – from cardboard and plastics to glass and tins. You might spot stacked trays in the car park; they’re reused by our local suppliers to cut down on waste and avoid unnecessary packaging. It’s all part of our effort to tread lightly. And when it comes to produce, we’re all for the odd bump or blemish – flavour matters more than looks. Ugly fruit, not Ugli fruit.

Suffolk is rightly celebrated for its brewing heritage, and at The Bull, we proudly showcase this rich history. At any one time, three of our six real ales are typically sourced from local brewers, alongside a refreshing Suffolk lager.
Sustainability is part of how we do things every day. From working with local suppliers to cutting down on waste in the kitchen, we try to make practical choices that are better for the environment, our suppliers and our customers.
The Bull has long been at the heart of Woodbridge life, with deep roots in the town’s history and community. We’re proud to support local farmers, brewers, and producers, keeping our supply chain close and our impact low. Beyond the kitchen, we regularly host and support local clubs, groups, and events—helping to bring people together. From its coaching inn origins to today, The Bull remains a welcoming gathering place where the town’s past, present, and people all come together.
Magnificent, the welcome, the beer, the food, the room, the breakfast. I travel a lot and The Bull Inn at Woodbridge is the best place I've stayed at in a long while, and the previous night I was in a four star hotel.

"Proprietors are wonderful hosts providing an exceptional service - warm, friendly and efficient. This ensures guests can relax in all areas of this historic building whilst enjoying the medieval Market Square on which The Bull occupies a prominent position. The outdoor benches allow guests to enjoy a beverage 'on the Square' creating a continental vibe. In addition the hotel provides first class cuisine including not to be missed breakfasts!"
