What time is check-in?
Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and reception closes at 11:00 PM. Early check-in may be possible—just ask and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is by 11:00 AM. Late check-out may be available for a small fee, subject to availability.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, all hotel bookings include breakfast as standard.
If you have friends, family or colleagues that would like to join you for breakfast, please let us know at check-in so we can allocate a table large enough for your group.
Do your rooms have air-conditioning?
No, The Bull is a 16th-century listed building and we’re unable to install air-conditioning. All rooms have central heating; fans and electric heaters are available on request.
Do you have accessible rooms?
Yes, we have two ground-floor accessible rooms. The bar and restaurant are also on the ground floor. Please note: we do not have a lift due to the building's historic status.
Can I store luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Absolutely. We’re happy to store your luggage securely at reception.
Can I get an extra bed or cot in my room?
Travel cots are available upon request, subject to room size and availability. Extra beds are not generally possible, except in our Family Room, which includes a pull-out bed suitable for children under 12.
Is smoking allowed?
All rooms and indoor areas are non-smoking. A designated smoking area is located at the rear of The Bull via the bar.
Are pets allowed in the hotel rooms?
Our rooms are not pet-friendly and we are concerned to keep the rooms clean and allergen free. As such, we do not allow pets into the hotel rooms.
What time is breakfast?
All bookings come with breakfast as standard so there is no excuse to skip the most important meal of the day!
On weekdays, breakfasts are served from 7:30 am until 10:00am.
On weekends and public holidays, breakfasts are served from 8:00 am until 10:00am.
Is there on-site parking?
Yes, we have a small guest car park at the rear of the hotel via New Street (height limit: 2.4m). Spaces are limited, so booking is essential—except for Master Suite bookings, which include parking as standard.
Are there public car parks nearby?

How do I get there from the train station?
It’s about a 7-minute walk. Head up Quay Street (next to The Anchor pub), continue onto Church Street, and turn right at St Mary’s Church. You’ll see The Bull ahead.

Do you have a restaurant and bar?
Yes! We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks daily. Menus are available online and at reception.
What are your food service hours?
Breakfast: 9am–12pm
Lunch: 12pm–3pm
Dinner: 6pm–9pm
Light bites and drinks are available outside these times.
Can I just come in for drinks?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to join us for drinks in the bar or lounge.
Do I need to book a table?
Booking is always recommended, especially during busy times. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows.
Do you have vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options?
We offer a selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. Vegan dishes are limited. Please ask your server or check the menu symbols.
Can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions?
Yes, we try our best. Let us know in advance and when ordering. Note: we do not cater for Halal, Kosher, or strictly vegan diets.
Can I bring my own cake or wine?
There’s a £10 corkage fee per wine bottle. If dining with us, feel free to bring a cake—just let us know in advance.
Do you offer takeaway or delivery?
No—our meals are freshly prepared for dine-in only.
Do you have a children’s menu?
Yes, we offer a kids' menu with popular dishes for younger guests.
Do you offer Sunday roasts or seasonal menus?
Yes! Our Sunday roasts are a local favourite, and we regularly update our menus to reflect the best of the season.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are welcome in the bar and outdoor areas. Water bowls and treats are provided. Hotel rooms, the restaurant, and Carlow’s Room are pet-free.
Is there outdoor seating?
Yes, our front terrace is a great spot on warmer days. It’s available first-come, first-served. We don’t take reservations for outside seating.
Is there a gym or spa on-site?
Not on-site, but Deben Leisure Centre is nearby and open to the public. You can also visit Bathsheba Spa, just a short drive away:

Do you offer laundry service?
We don’t currently provide laundry services.
Do you host events or private functions?
Yes, we host everything from small meetings and dining clubs to weddings and wakes. Our team is happy to help you plan your event.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept most major debit and credit cards, contactless payments, and cash. We do not accept American Express.
Do you have a dress code?
We're relaxed and informal, but we do ask guests to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Do you have live music or events?
